_aClinical Cardiac MRI is a comprehensive textbook intended for everyone involved in magnetic resonance imaging of the heart. It is designed both as a useful guide for newcomers to the field and as an aid for those who routinely perform such studies. The first edition, published in 2004-5, was very well received within the cardiac imaging community, and has generally been considered the reference because of its completeness, its clarity, and the number and quality of the illustrations. Moreover, the addition of a CD-ROM showing 50 real-life cases significantly enhanced the value of the book. In this second edition, the aim has been to maintain the same quality while incorporating the newest insights and developments in this rapidly evolving domain of medical imaging. The four editors, all experts in the field, have taken great care to ensure a homogeneous high standard throughout the book. Finally, the selection of 100 real-life cases, added as online material, will further enhance the value of this textbook. _bCommon terms and phrases: abnormalities acquisition acute anatomy aneurysm aorta aortic valve arrowheads arrows assessment atrial atrium axial blood flow Bogaert breath-hold cardiac cycle cardiac magnetic resonance cardiac MRI cardiomyopathy cardiovascular magnetic resonance ceMRA Circulation clinical Coll Cardiol congenital heart disease constrictive pericarditis contrast agents contrast-enhanced coronary angiography coronary MR angiography detection diagnosis diastolic dilatation dobutamine dysfunction echocardiography ejection fraction encoding evaluation fibrosis gadolinium gradient heart failure hypertrophic cardiomyopathy hypertrophy imaging plane increased ischemia ischemic k-space late Gd imaging left ventricle left ventricular magnetic resonance imaging mass measurements mitral valve morphology myocardial enhancement myocardial infarction myocardial perfusion myocardium noninvasive normal outflow tract patients PC-MRI perfusion imaging pericardial pericardium pulmonary artery quantification Radiol Radiology real-time regurgitation reperfusion right ventricle right ventricular segments septal septum sequences short-axis signal intensity stenosis stent stress syndrome systolic T1w-imaging thickening thrombus tion tissue transmural tumors valvular vascular velocity venous ventricular volumes vessels visualization |
