520 _aAbstract: Background: Despite the potential benefits of a self-management model for diabetes management in adults diagnosed with diabetes, many people with diabetes in Tanzania still seek hospital care services in health facilities. Therefore, this study investigated the prevalence and factors associated with unmet self-management supportive needs among diabetic patients attending clinic at Bugando Medical Hospital in Tanzania Methodology: This cross-sectional study conveniently sampled diabetic patients attending clinic at BMC in Tanzania. A validated questionnaire for screening unmet self-management supportive needs was used. Through software application SPSS version 20.1 frequencies and percentages were obtained, while pie charts, tables were used to represent data on magnitude of different factors associated with Prevalence of unmet self management supportive needs. Also odds ratio and 95% CI were used to find out the association between its prevalence and associated factors. Results: The prevalence of unmet self-management management supportive needs was 55.3%the prevalence of unmet self-management supportive needs was associated only with social support (p value 0.050). Conclusion: The prevalence of unmet self-management supportive needs among diabetic patients attending clinic at Bugando medical centre (BMC) is high. Efforts towards addressing the gap should focuses on strengthening social support.
