520 | _aAbstract: Background: As of last year 37.6 million people globally were living with HIV and 1.5 million people became newly infected with HIV, while 690 000 people died from AIDS-related illnesses, Women and girls accounted for about 50% of all new HIV infections in 2020. In sub-Saharan Africa, women and girls accounted for 63% of all new HIV infections. Mostly of death are due to poor adherence of art treatment and this due to poor knowledge about the overall treatment. Methodology: The study design was cross-sectional in nature using both qualitative and quantitative approaches and was carried out among newly diagnosed HIV positive patients attending Care and Treatment clinics at Bugando Medical centre. Results: Among 150 clients involved in the study 79.3% had good knowledge about knowledge on antiretroviral therapy guidance while 20.7% had poor knowledge and their was association between age and location of client with the knowledge on antiretroviral therapy guidance. Conclusion: The study has demonstrated good level of knowledge still their is call to raise more knowledge on antiretroviral therapy guidance for the remaining 20.7% mostly for the ages groups and client location oriented since they are associated with the level of knowledge and exploring more associating factors. Recommendation: Increase provision of knowledge antiretroviral therapy guidance in CTC clinics also in have outreach and campaigns in rural areas so as to help in increase knowledge for client who are still illiterate about antiretroviral therapy guidance. | ||
