520 _aAbstract: Background: Hepatitis B is a global health problem. HCWs are exposed to occupational risk of Hepatitis B virus. The aim of this of study was to determine the vaccination status and factors for the non-vaccination of HCWs at Sekou Toure hospital in Mwanza. Method: This was a cross sectional study, conducted at Sekou Toure hospital in Mwanza among HCWs who were eligible. Data was collected using a semi structured questionnaire and analysed using STATA version 13. Results: Out of 186 HCWs included in the study 134 (72%) HCWs received the vaccination and only 97(52.2%) received full course vaccination against HBV. The most frequently reason mentioned for not being vaccinated was its high cost (53.9%). Level of education and type of profession have significant association with vaccination status. Conclusion: HBV coverage among HCWs at Sekou Toure hospital is adequate. This is mostly not only due to availability of vaccine but also the hospital itself is one of the centres for vaccination.
