520 _aAbstract: Hospital based cross sectional retrospective study was done at MNH paediatric ward to find out the common clinical presentations among SCA children admitted at MHN general peadiatric ward from December 2004 to December 2005 A total of 148 SCA children were studied of whom 56.76% were males and 43.24% were females. The age group 3-5 years contributed to a higher proportion by 44.59% of the total studies population. From the study, the findings showed that SCA is more prevalent in males (56.76%) than in females (43.24%) A higher proportion of SCA were found to present with anemia crisis (31.76%) followed by painful crisis (22.30%). Malaria and pneumonia were found to be the most common causes of morbidity among SCA children with accounted for 33.78% and 26.35% respectively.
