The main objective was to learn practice and gain skills and knowledge on the inpatient management of obstetric fistula. Within the period of 30 days, the working program was based on the criteria for management of obstetric fistula at our hospital. Also some days were used to conduct sessions with patients so as to impart knowledge on personal hygiene, exercises, psychological care and the prevention of fistula during pregnancy and delivery. The whole process was supervised specialists, residents, intern doctors and nurses who were on call and present at the appropriate days. During the whole period of attachment field 1 came across patients with vesico-vaginal fistula and uretero-vaginal fistula and their complications such as social stigma, psychological pain and some of cases presented with recurrence after repair.

Abstract:

This was a one month practice attachment work done at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bugando medical centre in Mwanza region. The practice ground was entitled assessment of management of obstetric fistula outcome and prevention of women admitted at BMC.

The main objective was to learn practice and gain skills and knowledge on the inpatient management of obstetric fistula.

Within the period of 30 days, the working program was based on the criteria for management of obstetric fistula at our hospital. Also some days were used to conduct sessions with patients so as to impart knowledge on personal hygiene, exercises, psychological care and the prevention of fistula during pregnancy and delivery.
