Practice of Family Planning among Female Adults Attending at Bugando Hospital, Nyamagana District- Mwanza

Objectives: The study aims to assess practice of family planning among female adults attending at Bugando hospital, Nyamagana district- mwanza Methods: This was a hospital based cross sectional study involving adults attending Bugando hospital at Nyamagana district which was conducted from MARCH to JUNE 2023. Number of participants enrolled was 216, assessment of practices of family planning among adults was carried out through structured questionnaires. Sociodemographic and other relevant information were collected. Data was entered into Microsoft Excel and then exported to Statistical Package for Social Sciences software (SPSS version 25.0) for further analysis and presented in the percentages and table. Results: The study population had a mean age of 29.77 years and standard deviation of 6.783, were most of them 97.7% practiced at least one method of family planning. Most of participants used pills as the method of family planning. Conclusion and recommendations: The results of the study found that majority of women practiced at least one method of family planning with easily access to family planning centre. The ministry of health together with NGO’s should emphasize on family planning among couples and teenagers of reproductive age .
