Awareness of Obstetric Danger Signs among Pregnant Women attending Antenatal Care at Tukuyu Government Hospital.

Knowledge among women on danger signs of pregnancy is very important in ensuring a decrease in maternal mortality and morbidity, an improved knowledge on obstetric danger signs and the readiness for emergency complications are among the strategies aimed at both utilizing maternal health services and increasing access to skilled care during childbirth. However very little is known about women’s knowledge on obstetric danger signs among women attending RCH clinic at Tukuyu district hospital. Objectives: The aim of the study is to access the awareness of women attending RCH clinic at Tukuyu district hospital district hospital on the obstetric danger sign. Methodology: This will be a cross-sectional healthy facility based study that will involve a total of 200 pregnant women at RCH clinic at Tukuyu district hospital. Quantitative data will be collected through interviewer-administered questionnaires, data obstetric history and knowledge about danger signs of pregnancy will be collected. Conclusion: Due to the current rise in maternal mortality and morbidity it is anticipated that the level of awareness on danger signs of pregnancy among pregnant women to be quite low hence this study will ensure that there is proper provision of obstetric knowledge on danger signs of pregnancy and also ensure the proper translation of that knowledge into an appropriate action.
