Abstract:
Background: Community has changed their focused from only dispensing of medicine to pharmaceutical care services (1). To see pharmaceutical personnel does not require any appointment so this make community pharmacy the most accessible and widely distributed health care facilities (1).
The best way to improve community pharmacy services in any area is to understand the consumers’ needs and their expectations, consumers opinions is an important factor of judging satisfactory level and greater consumers satisfaction reflects that the services given meets customers’ needs and their expectations (2).
Method: A cross-sectional study design conducted in Nyamagana Municipal Council between May and June 2019. 382 consumers of pharmaceutical care who were visited community pharmacies were randomly selected and data collected was entered and analysed using SPSS version 20.
Results and Discussion: It was found that around about 53.9% participants in this study were female age 18-28 and most of them about 45.3% had secondary education. About (319) 83.5% were satisfied and few of them (63) 16.5% were not satisfied with pharmaceutical care services given in the community pharmacies. The highest level of satisfaction may be due to the improvement in services, availability of medicines and good communications between the clients and pharmaceutical personnel.
Conclusion and recommendation: The study shows most of participants seems to be satisfied with the services given and few of them were not satisfied especially with counselling, pharmaceutical personnel when designing pharmacy premises should create private space/room to be used for counselling purpose.
