Abstract:
Introduction: Hypertension is one of the common medical complications of pregnancy and contributes significantly to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is the hypertension that develops as a direct result of the gravid state. These include gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. These condition are associated with poor maternal fetal outcome hence high maternal mortality.
Field attachment duty plan
The period of the attachment will be one month, distributed into the following categories;
• Clinical management of outpatient from the clinics
• Clinical management of inpatients and follow up
• Fetal out come on the management of HDP
Conclusion and recommendation: The result from this study suggests that early interventions and early proper clinical management of HDP such as pre-eclampsia and eclampsia is usually associated with good maternal fatal outcome. Therefor poor maternal fetal outcome is associated with improper clinical management of hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.
