This study determined awareness on risk factors and symptom of malnutrition among parents in malnutrition unit Bugando medical centre hospital.
The parent involved in my study were selected from all children admitted in malnutrition unit at Bugando medical centre whose their parents willing to participate were enrolled in study, questionnaires were used to assess these parents.
A total of 120 children were included in the study. The awareness of parents towards risk factors was 95 (79.2) and towards symptom of malnutrition was 77 (64.2%).
The study has reviewed knowledge about malnutrition to be low compared to other places were study were done.
Those who were knowledgeable about the disease, majority of them were aware of few associated risk factors and symptoms, therefore health education to parents about the disease in the foremost important strategy toward raising the awareness.
