The aim of this study was to assess the Dispensing practice of Metronidazole and ALU (Artemether Lumefantrine) in ADDO (Accredited Drug Dispensing Outlet) Shops located in Nyamagana district in Mwanza Tanzania. The study was done by using semi structured questionnaire and the questions were constructed in order to obtain data from the respondents. The question were based on the objectives of the study, that is to compare the dispensing practice of Metronidazole and Artemether Lumefantrine with WHO especially in the part of instruction and advice which should be given to the patients like the influence of food on Artemether Lumefantrine, the interaction of Alcohol with Metronidazole side effects of ALU and Metronidazole. The results obtained revealed that the dispensing practice is inadequate due to the fact the respondents failed to instruct and advice the patients full.

Abstract:

Good dispensing practice is essential for promoting use of drugs. The aim of this study was to assess the Dispensing practice of Metronidazole and ALU (Artemether Lumefantrine) in ADDO (Accredited Drug Dispensing Outlet) Shops located in Nyamagana district in Mwanza Tanzania.

The study was done by using semi structured questionnaire and the questions were constructed in order to obtain data from the respondents.

The question were based on the objectives of the study, that is to compare the dispensing practice of Metronidazole and Artemether Lumefantrine with WHO especially in the part of instruction and advice which should be given to the patients like the influence of food on Artemether Lumefantrine, the interaction of Alcohol with Metronidazole side effects of ALU and Metronidazole.

The results obtained revealed that the dispensing practice is inadequate due to the fact the respondents failed to instruct and advice the patients full.
