Subject(s): Summary: Abstract : Background: Hypospadias is the leading pediatric urological condition at Bugando Medical Centre that account for 4.5% of all urology admission. Globally, patients/ parental repair satisfaction always diverse. This study aimed at determining satisfaction and factors associated with early complications. Methods: This retrospective and prospective hospital-based study involved all male subjects who underwent hypospadias repair at Bugando Medical Centre from May 2018 to April 2019. All subjects were followed up for a period of onemonth post repair. Data were analyzed by STATA version13. Results: A total of 66 subjects were studied, their median age was 3years IQR [9months to 13years]. Early complication was observed in 43.9% of subjects with urethral-cutaneous fistula (UCF) accounting for the majority 20(31.2%). Re-do operations, presence of chordee and use of vicryl 4.0 as the suture material were statistically significant factors associated with early complication. Majorities 52(92.86%) of the parental/ caretakers were satisfied with the repair outcome. Conclusion: There is high early hypospadias repair complication rate (43.9%) with UCF being the leading (31.3%). Re-do repairs, use of vicryl 4.0 suture and presence of chordee were statistically associated with early complications. Majority of parental/ caretaker were satisfied with the outcome.
