Background: Prolonged labor has been a major problem contributing to the increase in the prevalence of obstetric fistula and increase in MMR in developing countries despite the introduction of BEmONC and CEmONC in Tanzania, Obstructed labor is still a burden in our country and has contributed to short term and long term maternal illness, For many years the clinicians have focused more on treating the fistula neglecting other illness that come along with obstetric fistula that are contributed by the prolonged labor, Thus the aim of this study is to show the neglected comorbidities so as to increase adequate care to the victims.
Methodology: A cross sectional hospital based study was conducted in gynecological ward at BMC from January to June 2023,A systematic random sampling was used to obtain study participants and were interviewed using pre tested questionnaire.
Results: A total of 118 women above 18years were enrolled in the study, Of them 77(65.3%) were not able to control urine, 57(48.3%) had itching around the genitals, 48(40.7%)had difficulties in walking and79(66.9%) had not resumed their menses.
Conclusion: From the study, there is high prevalence of fistula and the obstetric labor injury complexes among patients with obstetric fistula.
