It important for pharmaceutical personnel to have adequate knowledge so as to ensure good practice in providing healthcare services to patients. This study aimed at assessing the knowledge and practice towards food drug interaction among pharmaceutical personnel. A cross sectional study was conducted using semi-structured questionnaire by convenience sample method which included pharmaceutical personnel in community pharmacies at Nyamagana district, Mwanza, Tanzania. A total number of 75 questionnaires were filled, which were used to assess the knowledge and practice of pharmaceutical personnel concerning food drug interaction. The mean scores for knowledge was 7.34 ± 2.43 where the maximum score was 13. The mean score obtained for practice was 1.87 ± 1.33 where the maximum score was 8. Knowledge and practice of the pharmaceutical personnel was shown to be inadequate. There is a need for increasing awareness and training seasons on potential food drug interaction among this group.
