Background: Toxoplasmosis is the infectious disease caused by an obligate intracellular parasite, a protozoan T. gondii that causes infection in most mammals worldwide. The organism can be transmitted from infected animals to human or from mother to child during pregnancy. In that scenario, it is of highly interest to understand the prevalence of toxoplasmosis among paediatric patients presenting with neurological signs and symptoms in paediatric department at BMC as information will be useful in management of paediatric patients. 

Objective: To determine prevalence of toxoplasmosis among paediatric patients presenting neurological signs and symptoms admitted at Bugando medical centre, paediatric department. 

Methodology: Between 2019 to 2020 data from hospital files of paediatric patients admitted in paediatric department at BMC for this retrospective study were collected using checklist and analysed by SPSS Software version 20. 

Results: Prevalence of Toxoplasmosis in this study was found to be 0% as screening was not done in paediatric patients with neurological presentation. Neurological symptoms and symptoms presented by patients at BMC was Blurred vision, blindness, mental retardation, delayed milestones, convulsions, loss of consciousness, fever, neck pain and headache, hydrocephalus, motor weakness, neck rigidity and lymphadenopathy. 

Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the prevalence of Toxoplasmosis among paediatric patients presenting with neurological signs and symptoms admitted at BMC paediatric department in this study that was conducted from October to march 2021 in this retrospective study cannot be determined as screening for Toxoplasmosis is not done.
