Summary: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has become the standard of reference in dental imaging. The distribution of CBCT devices is increasingly wide, and the number of required examinations is constantly growing. In this setting, it is now essential that medical and technical staff receive specific training in the use of CBCT and that technical guidelines for CBCT examinations are established. This clearly structured book on CBCT will be an ideal aid in daily clinical practice. It clearly explains basic CBCT anatomy, examination technique, and the use of 3D reformatting software. A wide range of cases are presented, covering the most frequent and relevant conditions and pathologies, including dental anomalies, inflammatory and degenerative disease, tumors, and implants. Common terms and phrases: 3D Imaging allows alveolar bone anatomical structures axial scan beam computed tomography bony canine Caruso CBCT 3D reconstruction CBCT coronal CBCT images CBCT required CBCT systems Clinical notes computed tomography conchae cone beam cone beam computed Cone Beam CT coronal scan cortical cross-sectional CT and 3D dental arch dental implant dentists detector diagnostic edentulous endodontic ethmoidal cells evaluation examination Extraoral female foramen frontal Genoa impacted incisor inferior inflammatory intraoral Italy e-mail lesion located mandible mandibular canal mandibular nerve maxilla maxillary sinus maxillofacial meatus medial MSCT multiplanar nasal cavity nasal septum Ó Springer-Verlag Italia occlusal Oral orthopantomography palatine bone panoramic images parameters paranasal sinuses patient periapical periodontal periodontium plane posterior premolars Preoperative radiation dose radiographs Radiology radiopaque reformat region root canal scans showing sections showing skull soft tissue superior surface surgery surgical teeth temporomandibular joint thin arrow third molar tooth University of Genoa vestibular
