Knowledge and attitude towards non communicable diseases and risk factors among undergraduates at CUHAS

Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted at CUHAS for undergraduates from 11 April to 28 May 2023, sample size was 354, used SPSS version 27 for data analysis. Results: 211(59.6%) females, 143(40.4%) males were recruited. Mean age was 22.9±2.4. There was Moderate knowledge (52.3%) and positive attitude (60.1%). No correlation between knowledge and attitude, r=-0.01, p=0.8. Discussion: The study assessed the Knowledge and attitude towards non communicable diseases and risk factors among undergraduates at CUHAS. Females 59.6% age was 18 to 24 consistent to Ithnin et al in terms of age and inconsistent in terms of gender. 84.2% appreciate that NCDs is a growing concern in our country consistent to Mary Mayige et al. 19.5% did not give correct answer of hypertension risk factor which is high salt intake. Conclusion: Moderate knowledge and positive attitude indicate a good understanding of non-communicable diseases whereas no correlation between knowledge and attitude can be due to various factors such as lack of adequate knowledge and education on NCDs risk factors.
