In Tanzania, one of the etiological factor that has received insignificant attention is Schistosoma mansoni which is associated with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in more than 2/3 of patients. The aim of this study was to assess the baseline knowledge among non-upper gastrointestinal bleeding patients admitted at Bugando Medical Center of impending risk factors associated with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and its prevention. Methodology: This was a cross sectional hospital based study that was conducted in June of 2023. Questioners were used to collect participant’s demographic and clinical information by using consecutive sampling method. Data was coded, entered and analysed by SPSS version 20.
