Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted in community pharmacies found in Mwanza from May to June 2019. The study in included 81 dispensers where one dispenser from each community pharmacy was interviewed. The data was analyzed by SPSS version 20. Result and Discussion: 58% dispensers had adequate knowledge and 42% had inadequate knowledge on the management of acute diarrhea. The dispensing practice of dispensers towards management of acute diarrhea was inappropriate compared to the WHO guideline. Conclusion and recommendation: Antibiotics, antimotility and absorbent were highly dispensed without prescription on investigation. ORS, fluid and food intake are the mainstay for management of acute diarrhea according to WHO. The improvement of knowledge and practice behavior among dispensers is required in order to give the adequate health services to patients.
