Methods: The cross sectional study involved women at Makongoro health clinic, Butimba hospital and Nyamagana district in Mwanza region, north-western Tanzania. Data were collected using questionnaires, women were asked to volunteer to give information and be participants in the study. Results: A total of 354 women were involved in the study, one hundred and ninety (190) adolescents, and one hundred sixty four (164) non adolescents. The adolescents were classified into three age groups. • 15 years and below (14/190, 7.4%) • 16 to 17 years (58/190, 30.5%) • 18 to 19 years (118/190, 62.1%) Mean age was 17.64 +/- 1.27(SD) for adolescents and 22.96 +/- 2.74(SD) for non-adolescents.

Abstract:

Background: Obstetric complications among adolescent primigravidae is one amongst the commonest complications facing women in Tanzania and it’s of my great interest to determine its prevalence. This study aims at finding out how obstetric complications among adolescent primigravidae have prevailed understanding on the causes and means to overcome the complications.

Methods: The cross sectional study involved women at Makongoro health clinic, Butimba hospital and Nyamagana district in Mwanza region, north-western Tanzania. Data were collected using questionnaires, women were asked to volunteer to give information and be participants in the study.
