Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Urinary Schistosomiasis at Igombe Ilemela, Mwanza.

Therefor when developing any intervention to improve the community’s knowledge attitude and practice KAP this group must be taken into account. Therefor this study was designed to determine school children’s KAP on schistosomiasis in this study area. Method: Descriptive cross sectional study. The study population included primary school children from standard five to standard seven and the age category will be 7-21. Results: This study suggests that majority of the pupils lie on average knowledge 57 (52.8%), good children 46 (46.6%) and good practice 50 (46.3%), the main risk factor for schistosomiasis was swimming in infested water 65 (80.2%), and domestic and economic activities that may predispose the pupils from acquiring urinary schistosomiasis was washing clothes 61 (75.3%). Conclusion: This study suggest the empowering children with knowledge and attempting to modify their water contact and enough had improved human waste disposal practices are necessary for schistosomiasis since children are going to be good ambassadors of health in the community.
