The Uptake of Focused Antenatal Care Services Among Women Giving Birth at Bugando Medical Centre and Sekoutoure Hospitals.

It’s an updated approach to antenatal care that emphasize on quality over quality of visits. This will help women maintain normal pregnancies and complications that are focused on individual needs. Objectives: A descriptive hospital based cross sectional study to assess the uptake of FANC among women which will be conducted at Bugando Mwanza. Methods: A number of women will be interviewed. Interviewing schedule and Swahili questionnaires will be used to collect data. Key questions asked would be to determine number of visits during antenatal clinic, Awareness and workout of child preparedness plan, uptake of key prophylaxis treatment given and investigation taken during antenatal clinic. Consent form will be given before participating in the study. The interview will collect data from women who are given before participating in the study. The interview will collect data from women who are giving birth at Bugando Medical Centre and Sekou Toure who are 18 years and above. Data will be analyzing using SPSS version 20. Results: This study found that out of 325 women who participated in this study 2(0.6%) didn’t attend at antenatal clinic. And, majority of those who attended they booked for antenatal clinic in second trimester (58.2%). 28% women were not provided with knowledge concern with delivery outcome and child preparedness plan. Conclusion: This study found that majority of women who delivered at Sekou Toure and BMC at had good antenatal care clinic attendance and majority were provided with information and have sufficient practice of child preparedness.
