Problem statement: Psychosis seemed to be occurring more often together with epilepsy than was expected by chance, were defined schizophrenia in epilepsy as schizophrenia like-psychosis of epilepsy. The relationship between psychoses and epilepsy is of important since people with epilepsy presents with psychotic features. Objective: This study was to describe the prevalence of psychosis among epileptic patients attending at Bugando medical centre. Methodology: This was a cross sectional hospital based descriptive study which was conducted at Bugando medical centre. Participants were recruited consecutively until the estimated sample size of 196 were achieved. Data was collected by using a structured questionnaire. The data obtained was entered and then analyzed using the statistical package for social science version 20. Results: A total of 196 people with epilepsy attended at Bugando medical centre were included in the study in which 126 were male while 70 where female. Conclusion and recommendations: The prevalence of psychosis among people with epilepsy was 46.4%, therefore strong and focused interventions are needed to promote early diagnosis and treatment.
