Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess adherence to STG among prescribers at primary health facilities in Nyamagana district. Data was collected retrospectively from the prescriptions or health management information system and semi-structured questionnaire was administered to prescribers. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 17. Results: A total of 35 prescribers were interviewed of which 51.4% were men and 49.6% were women. A total number of 200 prescriptions or HMIS were analyzed of which 69% of the parents were treated in accordance with STG (2013) of which adherence was found to be higher (79.8%) in the public center in comparison to private health center where by adherence was found to be 61.2%. Conclusion: Adherence to STG (2013) among prescribers was found to be higher in both public and private health center in comparison to WHO report on “The world medicine situation in 2011”
