Globally, about, 1.5 billion individuals (24% of the world`s population) are infected with STHs out of these majorities live in resource poor settings. The medicine mostly used for treatment of helminthiasis is albendazole and now days, some parasitic worms have stated to be resistance to these chemotherapy. This study aimed at evaluating the anthemintic activity of the seed of carica papaya using earthworms as test worms. Materials and methods: various concentration 2.5%, 5%, 10% and 12.5% of carica papaya seed which were extracted by water and other similar concentration by ethanol were used in the experiment. The study involve determination of time of paralysis and time of death of the worm both water and ethanolic extract. Six worms were used for every 50mls of those concentration (2.5%, 5%, 10% and 12.5%) were used in experimental procedures. Results: results show shortest time, 33.30 min and 56.63 min of paralysis and death respectively for 12.5% ethanolic extract, while the time of paralysis and death increased in 10% concentration, 5% and in 2.5% concentration respectively. Also water extract in high concentration showed good results as compare to low concentration. So the seeds of carica papaya showed significantly results in paralysis, and death of worm especially at high ethanolic extract concentration as compared to standard reference and control. Conclusion: it is conclude that the seed of carica papaya showed significant anthelmintic activity in dose dependent manner, also the ethanolic extract concentration showed slightly more effectiveness in action of paralysis and death of earthworms than that of water extract.
