Patients with Microalbuminuria have a high risk for target organ damage resulting in stroke, retinopathy and adverse CV events. Screening for Microalbuminuria in patients especially those who aged helps to detect new cases of chronic-kidney disease (CKD). This study aims to determine the prevalence of Microalbuminuria in elderly non-diabetes. Methodology: This was a hospital based cross section study that enrolled elderly non-diabetic patients and was conducted at BMC Mwanza, from May to July 2018. Urine sample were collected and processed for detection of Microalbuminuria in accordance to standard operating procedures. Data were recorded in lab log book then entered in Excel which was then transferred and analyzed to STATA version 13 software. Finding: This study shows a total of 151 participants with median age (IQR) of 62 (56-67). The overall prevalence of Microalbuminuria among non-diabetic was 14.57% Conclusion and Recommendation: This study showed that the prevalence of Microalbuminuria was 14.57% among (elderly) non-diabetic patients attending medical outpatient department at BMC. This Suggests that Microalbuminuria screening should be aggressively used as a screening tool to pick up early evidence of Microalbuminuria in non-diabetic.
