The aim of this study was to outline the etiological spectrum, injury patterns and short term outcome of these injuries in our setting. Patients and methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study involving chest injury patients admitted to Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) over a six-month period from November 2009 to April 2010 inclusive. After informed consent to participate in the study, all patients were consecutively enrolled in the study. Data was collected using a pre-tested, coded questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS computer software version 11.5. Results: A total of 150 chest injury patients were studied.
