Summary, etc. "Abstract:

Background: High frequency of bacterial infections has now become a global concern affecting populations worldwide, including ‘this can be related to hands since our hands come into contact with various contaminated surfaces thus good practice of hand hygiene is essential in preventing the spread of bacteria and reducing the risk of infections, By diluting and using liquid hand wash properly individuals can effectively remove bacteria and reduce risk of infections on their hands. This study assessed on the over dilution of olive leaf extract, lemon synthetic and strawberry synthetic liquid hand washes against staphylococcus aureus thus findings may help to ensure proper use of liquid hand wash.

Methodology: The study was laboratory based experimental study and was conducted over a course of one month from 1st April to 28th. The study involved olive leaf extract, lemon synthetic and strawberry synthetic liquid hand washes and staphylococcus aureus isolates from CUHAS microbiology laboratory. Laboratory procedures: Susceptibility test by agar well diffusion method was carried out on all three samples of liquid hand washes at all ratios of dilution that were prepared which were 75%,50% and 25% against staphylococcus aureus, assessing viability as well time kill test on assessing persistence over time.

Results: The antibacterial activity was noted to be higher at lesser dilutions of 75% compared to 25% on assessing viability, there was a higher l effect at 120 seconds compared to 30secs on assessing persistence, although Olive liquid hand wash showed highly effectiveness compared to lemon and strawberry synthetic liquid hand washes.

Conclusion: From this study, the data suggests less dilution, if necessary, on using liquid hand wash or as manufactures directions when required against staphylococcus aureus, where the greatest zones of inhibition were noted at 75% dilution."
