| Summary, etc. | Abstract:<br/><br/>Introduction: Sexual dysfunction, a common complication in prostate cancer patients, affects the quality of life leading to poor 5-year survival rate, and thus sexual interventions are urgently required. Sexual communication, along with regular sharing of each other's innermost thoughts and feelings, is one of the things that makes sex great. It is important to broaden a couple’s sexual communication content, it is likewise important to understand the how to have these important communications that can likely improve couples’ sexual relationship<br/><br/>Methodology: A cross section of 63 cancer survivors (age M = 62.51years, SD = 6.159) attending clinic at BMC, Mwanza-Tanzania from April to May 2022 by using questionnaires containing age, marital status, occupation, educational level and couple’s sexual communication patterns.<br/><br/>Results: The findings from this study observed that the patterns of sexual communication among prostate cancer survivors attending clinic at BMC was poor with the higher percent of 52.6%.most of the cancer survivors reported to have poor communication with their partners. Despite of having poor sexual communication still 47.4% of participants reported to have good communication with their partners. Education and tribes were the significant predictors of couple sexual communication<br/><br/>Conclusion: There is a big need to address and educate the community on the importance of sexual communication. This will help in the early recognition of changes in their sexual life and also in early recognition of the prostate cancer disease for early treatment and improvement of the quality of life. Also cultural beliefs and attitudes have influenced poor sexual communication. Some of those beliefs are outdated but they are still practiced interiorly <br/> |
