However informed medical decision‐making of patient life expectancy often requires engaging in highly emotional, potentially upsetting discussions between patient and caregivers about prognosis. The objective of this review is to provide the prevalence of prognostication of cancer survivors and to discuss their risk factors that leading to inaccurate understanding of prognosis.

Methodology: A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study desig was used used to depict the factors associated with prognostics awareness of caregivers of cancer patients, the descriptive statistics was used including Measures of Frequency, Percent Mean. Inferential statistics 95%CI was performed in determining factors associated with prognostic awareness. This study was focused on understanding the essence and nature of phenomena and human response to events and will be conducted between June and August at BMC in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Results: Statistically (68.6%), of caregivers were satisfied with the quality of life their patient have and (31.4%) had poor prognostic awareness, regarding number of sample size about 366 Among those respondents 161(43.9%) were male while 206(56.1%) were female.

Conclusion: We discovered a complex landscape of prognosis awareness among caregivers of cancer patients receiving comprehensive care, while a substantial portion of care givers demonstrate a reasonable level of awareness. Factors such as age, education, sex, marital status and religion played a role in determining awareness levels. By addressing these gaps, we can work towards ensuring that caregivers are empowered with knowledge and resources to provide best possible care.

Recommendations: Develop and implement comprehensive communication training programs for healthcare providers these programs should focus on improving their ability to convey prognosis information in clear, empathetic and sensitive manner.
