Summary, etc. Abstract:<br/><br/>Background: Diarrhea is among the second leading disease which is responsible for mortality in under-fives, It complicates to electrolytes depletion which are the vitals for survival as a results of gastrointestinal infections which could be viral, parasite or bacteria. Knowledge on prevention and early supportive intervention of diarrhea among caregivers is crucial in helping children below five years from various diarrhea related complications and death. Emphasis on preventive measures such as good hand hygiene practice, vaccinations and encourage breast feeding as recommended by WHO standards and proper nutrition support and the community reduce risks of contaminations acquiring infection. <br/><br/>Objective: The general objective of this study is to assess level of knowledge among caregivers on prevention of diarrheal diseases among under five years’ old children attending reproductive and child health clinic at Nyamagana district hospital.<br/><br/>Methodology: A cross sectional descriptive study design was conducted and the minimum of 169 participants recruited by random sampling. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS and charts, graph are presented.<br/><br/>Results: A total of 169 caregivers were included in this study in which 9 of them were male and 160 were female, among the participants, 87 (51.25%) were married with their highest level of education were primary school education which accounts 74 (44%). The main occupation of the Head of Households of our study participants was Self-employment 115 (68.25%). The illiterate level of education were highly associated with diarrhea disease 11 0ut of 22 which is 50%, followed by primary level of education 12 out of 88 which is 14% and university level were 0 out of 11 which is 0%<br/><br/>Conclusion: In this study findings, half of care giver of children below five years attending at Nyamagana District have inadequate knowledge on diarrhea’s prevention strategies. Multifactorial approach should put together to raise more awareness to our community on prevention and control strategies of diarrhea in under-fives to prevent morbidity and mortality resulting from diarrhea complications <br/>
