Summary, etc. | Abstract: <br/><br/>Background: Knowledge of danger signs during pregnancy is essential for the good outcome to mothers and expected new born. Increased knowledge of obstetrics danger signs to pregnant women is crucial for reducing delays in seeking health care. <br/><br/>Aim: This study to determine knowledge of danger signs during pregnancy and its association with health care seeking actions among pregnant women attending clinic at Nyamagana hospital.<br/><br/>Method: A prospective cross-sectional study will be conducted to pregnant women attending clinic at Nyamagana hospital. The participants in the study will be given questionnaire with close-ended questions. <br/><br/>Results: The knowledge was categorized into two namely poor knowledge and good knowledge. Pregnant women who mentioned below two out of seven danger signs were categorized as they had poor knowledge of danger signs during pregnancy. And those who mentioned three or more danger signs were categorized as having good knowledge. 205(69.2%) pregnant women were able to mention at least three danger signs. While the remaining (30.8%) mentioned two danger signs which are vaginal bleeding and severe abdominal pain. When asked majority of women recognized vaginal bleeding as the most dangerous signs during pregnancy as 282 pregnant women corresponding to 93.1% of all women involved in this study. About 107 (36.1%) mentioned vaginal bleeding, convulsion and loss of consciousness as danger signs which worries them the most during pregnancy.<br/> |
