| Summary, etc. | Abstract:<br/><br/>Background: Pre-eclampsia is one among several hypertensive conditions of pregnancy with estimation of 8% by WHO for all pregnant woman worldwide, clinically described as the existence of pregnancy-induced hypertension with blood pressure ≥140/90mmHg after 20 weeks of gestation and proteinuria >0.3g/24 hours. <br/><br/>Objective: Was to determine the prevalence, risk factors and fetal outcome of pre-eclampsia eclampsia among the pregnant women admitted for delivery at Bugando medical centre from September to October 2019.<br/><br/>Methodology: The research was Hospital Based Analytical Cross Sectional Study that will be conducted at Bugando medical centre located in Nyamagana district. The population of interest were women who were admitted and delivered in the maternity ward at BMC. The data was collected by interview method using a structure questionnaire. Data entry and analysis was done with an assistance of computer program SPSS (Statistical package for the social sciences). To generate frequencies, means and odds ratios.<br/><br/>Results: The prevalence of pre-eclampsia eclampsia was found to be 14.6% with the odd ratio of 4.73, 6.01, 11.3 and 0.842 for diabetes mellitus, history of pre-eclampsia eclampsia, history of chronic hypertension and familial history of pre-eclampsia eclampsia respectively 2% of newborn of those mother who were having pre-eclampsia eclampsia were dead with a p-value of less than 0.005 and 24.2% of newborn by the pre-eclamptic mother were pre mature with very low birth weight, 63.6% were of just low birth weight and just 12.1% were of normal birth weight. The p-value were less than 0.005.<br/> |
