Summary, etc. Abstract: <br/><br/>Background: Access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in schools is important for human health and wellbeing. The proposed goals and target for the sustainable development goals (SDGS) seek universal access to (WASH) in non-household areas such as schools and health care. <br/><br/>Methods: This was a prospective cross sectional study which was carried out in public primary schools of Nyamagana municipal council between September and October 2019. 385 participants were recruited through random sampling method. Data were collected using a pretested questionnaire. <br/><br/>Results: 88.1% of pupils had knowledge on how to make water safe for our use while only 1% of pupil’s don’t know on how to make safe our use. And 83.7% of pupil’s had a positive attitude on the risk factors which could expose them to poor water sanitation and hygiene comared to 16.3% who had negative attitude. And about 91.2% of pupil’s had poor practice towards WASH where they reported to use water only for had wash after toilet about 8.8% had good practice towards WASH they reported to use water and soap after toilet. <br/><br/>Conclusion: Good knowledge and sanitation facilities found to increase the level of good hygiene practices among pupil’s understand hygiene practices but due to unavailability of sanitation facilities none of them practices proper hygiene as a result hygiene related diseases are the most common diseases in all the school involved in the study.<br/>
