Summary, etc. | <br/>Abstract: <br/><br/>Background: Tropical steroids are widely used to treat demonological problems. The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of topical steroids misuse among university students. <br/><br/>Methodology: Questions was used to collect data from the students and photos of different topical steroids were included to help students easily identification.<br/><br/>Results: 232 students responded. 118 students responded they have use at least one of the listed tropical steroid, 114 reported they did not use any of the listed topical steroid. The source of advice of using topical steroid was from local pharmacy personnel, doctor prescription, cosmetic shop, friend and relatives. The main reason for using tropical steroids was to treat skin infection, acne and skin lightening. The misuse of tropical steroid was observed in case of indication, source of topical steroids, and in terms of duration of use. <br/><br/>Conclusion: Considerable number of university students misuse topical steroids without knowing its nature, additionally topical steroids are being prescribed and advised by non-medical personnel. Public awareness actions can be implemented to warn against the use of topical steroids without proper medical supervision. <br/> |
