Summary, etc. Abstract: <br/><br/>Background: Despite the various strategies and policies, the total fertility rate in Tanzania has been consistently high and stands at 5.7 children per women. Notable increase in the use of contraceptive methods has been registered in Tanzania. The purpose of the study was to examine prevalence of contraceptive choices and factors associated with choices among women attending at Makongoro clinic. <br/><br/>Methodology: This was a cross sectional study that were conducted at Makongoro health center, included all women attending at clinic who selected by convenient sampling. Data was collected using semi-structured questionnaire to identify the prevalence of contraceptive choice and factors associated with choices among women attending at Makongoro clinic. Data was analysed using SPSS version 20. P-value of less than 0.05 will be considered statistically significant. Since there is no research which have been conducted in Lake Zone to show the prevalence of modern contraceptive use, the data result from this research will help at our district level to see which kind of contraceptive method women prefer to use and to make it more available. <br/><br/>Results: Thirty five percent of women reported to be using contraceptive methods. Highest (58%) use of contraceptives was reported among women in formal employment. Factors founds to be significantly associated with contraceptive use were: education level, occupation and support from husband/partners and access to information while religion, decision maker on desired number of children in the family were not found to be significantly associated with the use of contraceptive. <br/><br/>Conclusion: Prevalence of contraceptive use among women in is 57.1% than in the general population of women with the age of 15-45+ years. Socio-demographic factors like education level and occupation were found to influence the use of contraceptive methods among women. Moreover, socio-cultural factors like religious beliefs and husband/partner support were also crucial in influencing the use of contraceptive methods contraceptive. <br/>
