Summary, etc. Abstract: <br/><br/>Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) foot complications are a leading cause of mortality in developing countries and the prevalence of diabetes is expected to increase in the next decades in these countries (5). So this study was conducted to determine self-knowledge and practice on diabetic foot care among diabetic patients attending diabetic outpatient clinic at Bugando medical centre. <br/><br/>Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted at Bugando medical centre diabetes outpatient clinic in which 101 diabetic patients were used as a sample. Data was collected by using a questionnaire then analysis was done by using SPSS version 20. Results were presented into percentages, frequencies, tables and graphs. <br/><br/>Results: Out of 101 interviewed participants, 70 (69.3%) had high level of knowledge on diabetic foot care. 26 (25.7%) had satisfactory knowledge while 5 (5%) had poor knowledge on foot care. On foot care practice 55 participants (54.5%) had good practice, 35 (3.7%) had satisfactory practice while 11 (10.9%) had poor foot care practice. <br/><br/>Conclusion and recommendation: Diabetic patient attending diabetic outpatient clinic at Bugando medical centre had enough knowledge on diabetic foot care, most of them knew the recommended practices for prevention of diabetic ulcers, and though they have knowledge most of them didn’t practice the knowledge which they have in order to prevent the diabetic ulcers. Therefore more efforts should be directed towards emphasizing about foot care practices by putting the knowledge they have into actions. <br/>
