Summary, etc. Abstract:<br/><br/>Background: pre –eclampsia(toxemia of pregnancy), is a disease of pregnancy characterized by a high blood pressure 140/90mmHgang above in two consecutive reading six hours apart accompanied by proteinuria or retention of fluid that develops after the 20th weeks of pregnancy in previous normotensive and end of first week after delivery.<br/><br/>The condition occur in 6% of pregnant women and it is more common among primigravidae, to the women with history of high blood pressure or a blood vessel disorder. It is one of the most common cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. The study aimed to know the prevalence, complications and maternal and fetal outcomes of preeclampsia at Sekou Toure reginal hospital. The study was also in partial fulfillment of my undergraduate degree course. It was hoped that this study would help the hospital and medical personnel to know the burden of the disease and the outcomes hence helping in improving health care to the women with preeclampsia and their children<br/><br/>Methodology: A retrospective cross- sectional hospital based study was done in Mwanza to determine the maternal and fetal outcomes among pregnant women with pre-eclampsia admitted at Sekou Toure regional hospital from July 2014 June 2015. The obtained quantitative data was processed and analyzed using SPSS statistics version 20 software and the qualitative data was analyzed manually basing on the emerging themes.<br/><br/>Results: in this study 10943 women were admitted at maternity ward from July 2014 to June 2015 at Sekou Toure regional hospital and 548 had preeclampsia. Prevalence of preeclampsia found to be 19.97%. The primigravida shows high percentage among the women with preeclampsia (51.8%) compared to multigravida. Also the study shows a significant increase of caesarean section (16.4%). Among the preeclamptic women 7.3% developed eclampsia, however there is no death reported. Regarding fetal outcomes, low birth weight showed to be more 6.4% followed by still birth. 2%and fetal death 1.5%.<br/><br/><br/>
