Summary, etc. Lugina Africa Midwives research network (LAMRN) is a network of midwives from six African countries: Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Tanzania and their overseas partner, University of Manchester, in the UK. The network originated from the Africa Midwives Research Network (AMRN) formulated by Professor Helen Igobeko Lugina who, in 1992, sat with her colleagues from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique and Sweden at Bahari Beach Hotel Dar es Salaam to form AMRN. AMRN firmly resolved to advance and strengthen midwifery knowledge, attitudes and practice through research to improve reproductive health in the region of Africa. Between 1992 and 1997 Uganda, Eritrea and Mozambique joined the network. Later, after 2001, biennial conference in Arusha, Kenya joined the network.
