The burgeoning epidemic of non-communicable diseases in global health has been well recognized and documented. Cardiovascular disease is at the top of the list. Diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in the global health setting requires knowledge of local epidemiology, careful history-taking, and excellent physical examination skills. In addition, one needs to become proficient with locally available diagnostic modalities, medications, and treatment protocols while remaining cognizant of local resource limitations.
